AXEL RAD DAY

So, it was an Axel Rad printing day today! It was awesome. It was a screen printing extravaganza...straight up experimenting with textures, stamping objects right onto the fabrics, spraying the ink with a spray bottle, and having fun while creating some seriously sick designs.

The Equestrian Collection was born today after a lot of talking and planning. I have had this line in my head for so long it was such an amazing felling to finally see it come to life. I also am so grateful for the team at Axel Rad for there help and their bad ass artistic and professional approach they take into a project. So, glad I found them.

The line will premiere at the end of this month so stay tuned for more exciting stuff!

Hot Yoga

I really want to like hot yoga. Today was my second attempt again this year. I am going back on Sunday to see if I feel a difference. Most of my friends have great experiences with the hot yoga and are encouraging me to continue down this path so that I can hopefully feel the benefits that they all have raved about. Some friends find that the conditions inside the 105 degree studio are unfit, unhealthy and too stressful on some people's bodies and organs. I do like the movement and the style of this yoga. Now I just have to get used to this temperature and if not I still have "cold" yoga!

On a studio note, new inventory is now available on Etsy.com http://www.etsy.com/shop/valeriekiser

Ahh, spring time in Pennsylvania! Scattered snow and hail then sunny 5 minutes later. Everyone wants to start planting and planning outdoor activities but remember that this is the northeast and we have to be patient. Maybe by May the weather will be ready to cooperate with all of our plans.

Okay, studio update. Working on some stuff to post on ETSY.com and right here on my own site. Also, getting excited to screen print on Saturday. All day long, print, print, print. Have gathered some stuff to print on and need to find some cool textures to lay down for background. It is the first time printing my fabric designs into mass production graphics onto wearables, bags, table cloths and pillow cases to start. In the meantime, I am working on 3 paintings with a cleaned up look but still creating great texture and depth while playing with color. I want really work on building up the background. Not going to use any text.

Will post the week's work later for you to see.

Spring Time Heat

So, here it is spring time. With the flowers blooming and my brain spinning with all these great projects. And with these projects I am reminded that everyone else is thinking and feeling the same way. SO, when you live or work within a community of different thinking individuals where do you compromise and where do you hold strong to your own creative vision? I go back and forth on this one b/c working within a group is a great learning experience that helps you to expand your own thinking patterns, it builds stronger communication skills that will help in the next future encounter.  SO, again where do you compromise and where do you take the back seat? Taking the back seat can speed up the process b/c there are fewer choices. When everyone is on the same page the  work experience is productive and content.  But, when the situation is one where everyone feels strongly about their ideas then nothing happens until someone backs down. Is this person the stronger personality b/c they are seeing the bigger picture?  Or are they afraid to assert themselves?
